CROSS-BEARER
2011
Cross-bearer plays with historical icon imagery to expose modern human suffering. Self-realization has become our era’s martyrdom. Empty of genuine ideals, we worship artificial identities as our contemporary icons.
Tortured by impossible self-images, we chase the spotlight with desperate hunger – to be watched, admired, mirrored. Self-fulfillment is our obsession, forever torn between two selves: the Super Hero and the cowering child. Either invincible or utterly worthless.
We crown ourselves masters and geniuses while rejecting all dependency and intimacy. Our cross remains – we have no choice but to bear it.
